THE BEGINNING

GRAYSON CLAUDE RUSSELL GEORGE STRAIT:

At two years old I started introducing myself as “grayson Claude Russell George Strait.” But my favorite song to yell at the top of my lungs was Johnny Paychecks: “Take This Job and Shove IT.” which I'm sure everybody got a kick out of. WHen I was three dad got asked to sing “I can only imagine” in our little home country church in Clanton, Al. well, evidently I wouldn't quit singing it when he was practicing because he ended up letting me do it all by myself instead. That was the first time I ever sang on my own in front of group of people.

band #1:

from there we started traveling as a family singing in local churches. when I was six my dad cut his first album in our buddy's grandmother's house in a little studio he had built in her basement. it was around this point that I discovered the BeeGees. i was obsessed. I took it upon myself to form a band with my fellow second-graders and start weekly rehearsals in each of our living rooms on the weekends, practicing karaoke and singing soley beegees music and “have a nice day” by bon jovi. to this day George Strait and The Beegees have undoubtedly been the biggest musical influences on my life. then, Talladega NIghts Happened.

KEEP YOUR DAY JOB:

WIll Ferrell and the director, Adam MCCAy would get a kick out of getting me to sing on set, going as far as to film an entire scene around me singing "How Deep is Your Love" in the movie. Film began to open a lot of doors to go speak and play music, which led me to get to give my testimony at the 38th annual christian music awards at the grand ole opry. my folks would take me to nashville and the opry every chance we got. anytime they'd saved up enough to take a trip, that's where they took me. so it's no wonder I wound up here haha!
